Background of area framing the central scene has vertical lines on the top and sides. horizontal ones along the bottom..

PRINTING: Rotogravure
COLOUR: Brown and blue(shades). SG# 48. Sc# 43,c
Lines still there but cruder. The curved top of left inner frame has no coloured lines projecting inwards from it. Shading of the last 'A' in country name partly covers the flower below.


YEAR: 1939
PRINTING: Rotogravure
COLOUR: Brown and blue(shades).
SG#62. Sc# 62c,f
'SUID-AFRIKA' is hyphenated. On the curved top of the left inner frame, the coloured lines have returned. Frame is chalky blue.




YEAR: 1952
PRINTING: Rotogravure
COLOUR: Brown and blue(shades).
SG#120,a. Sc# 62
Much as the 1939 printing but new cylinders in fully screened rotogravure. Design made up of tiny squares of colour arranged in straight diagonal lines.
